Factory maintenance schedules exist for a reason—following them prevents breakdowns and maintains resale value. Major services at 30K, 60K, and 90K miles can be expensive. Tresl helps you stay on schedule without financial stress.
Get Financing NowManufacturer maintenance schedules are designed around component wear patterns and fluid degradation.
Here's what to expect at each major service interval.
First major milestone. Typically includes comprehensive fluid checks, air filter replacement, tire rotation, and detailed inspection. May include first transmission fluid service depending on manufacturer.
Major service interval. Spark plugs due on many vehicles, transmission service, coolant flush, brake fluid service. This is when deferred maintenance catches up with neglected vehicles.
Critical interval especially for timing belt vehicles. Includes everything in 60K plus timing belt/chain inspection, water pump consideration, all drivetrain fluids. Often the most expensive service.
High-mileage vehicles need extra attention. Spark plugs if not done at 60K, suspension component inspection, potential coolant hose replacement, and assessment of wear items approaching end of life.
Some maintenance items, if skipped, lead to catastrophic (and expensive) failures.
Rubber belt that synchronizes engine valves with pistons. If it breaks, valves and pistons can collide, destroying the engine. Not all vehicles have them—some use timing chains.
Old coolant becomes acidic and loses freeze/boil protection. Causes overheating, head gasket failure, and radiator/heater core corrosion. Much cheaper to prevent than repair.
Automatic transmissions are expensive to replace ($3,000-$6,000). Regular fluid service extends life dramatically. CVT transmissions are especially sensitive.
Serpentine belt drives alternator, AC, power steering. A broken belt leaves you stranded. Belts are cheap; tow trucks aren't.
Timing chains generally last the life of the engine and don't require scheduled replacement. Timing belts are rubber and must be replaced on schedule. Check your owner's manual to know which your vehicle has. If you have a belt and don't know when it was last changed, consider replacing it—the consequences of failure are severe.
| Service | Standard Vehicles | Luxury/European | Trucks/SUVs |
|---|---|---|---|
| 15K/30K Service | $150-$300 | $250-$450 | $200-$350 |
| 60K Service | $350-$600 | $500-$900 | $400-$700 |
| 90K Service | $400-$700 | $600-$1,100 | $500-$850 |
| Timing Belt Service | $500-$1,000 | $800-$1,500 | $600-$1,200 |
| Timing Belt + Water Pump | $700-$1,200 | $1,000-$1,800 | $800-$1,500 |
Major scheduled services—especially those including timing belt replacement—can exceed $1,000. Rather than skip critical maintenance or drain savings, financing spreads the cost over manageable payments while keeping your vehicle properly maintained.
